Purging the Xeno is still standard Imperial doctrine, it just so happens that most of the remaining unpurged xenos are too strong to purge easily, and the Imperium is too busy. However, there's currently discussion for a 40K mod and it's likely better to represent the Imperium as 3 separate factions: Adeptus Terra (the main government, the Navy and the Guards), Adeptus Mechanicum and Adeptus Astartes (fractured into smaller vassals). The Imperium did launch a Crusade against them it lost (because the Imperium was distracted by bigger threats and couldn't support its forces in the region adequately). I'd say they are Fanatic Militarist and Fanatic Xenophobes and Collectivists (not enough points though).
So they are neither, but they utilize both. Any form of AI is considered dangerous and a heresy. They also have servitors and modify themselves, but they don't have robots (not anymore after 1st ed.). Commonwealth of Man looks ok, but why play as. They actually fear them and try to contain them as much as possible. Helo, I recently started playing Stellaris and got to grips with the game with a United Nations of Earth campaign, now that I am done playing as the lame humans I want a game with the proper humans. They have psykers and astropaths, but they don't really embrace them, although they need them to survive. Lorewise they are religious, but that's not expressed the same way as spiritualism, it's rather a result and a source of their collectivism. I don't think Spiritualist is a thing for Imperium (if we consider spiritualism = telepathy and connection to the universe and materialism = robots and exploiting all the resources they can). The problem with recreating the Imperium of Man is that you want both Fanatic Purifiers and Imperial Cult but can't get both of them, at the same time you can't really represent the Adeptus Mechanicus within the Imperium and if you did then you would need to make a separate empire and that would get messy.
